ANIRBAN DASGUPTA POSTER CAMPAIGN

Poster Design | Motion Graphics

Anirban Dasgupta, one of India’s most popular and widely loved comics, was gearing up for his first mammoth tour across the USA, Canada & London.

For a tour of this scale, he needed a campaign that could announce the tour with impact, build excitement, and keep the buzz going throughout the tour — from announcement posts and key art to social media communication.

Anirban entrusted us with the creative and design direction for the entire tour campaign, and we got to work on building a visual language that could carry the tour across platforms and cities.

Announcement Poster

The announcement post needed to be striking, immediate, and attention-grabbing — especially since it was the first piece of communication announcing the tour. As a comic, Anirban immediately knew that a funny visual would do the job. So we played around with the idea of putting his face on the Statue of Liberty, along with a few other elements like the FIFA World Cup Trophy (since the tour was right around that time) and a bottle of Old Monk Alcohol (a subtle nod to this comedy) and it became the perfect way to announce the tour and get people to stop scrolling.

Below is a process reel that includes some of the text exchanges from the process of arriving at the final announcement poster design above.

Key Art

We had limited images to work with, and Anirban was clear about what he wanted — a poster that was striking, information-heavy, and still aligned with his brand. We went through a bunch of references, explored different directions, and worked through several iterations before landing on the final design.

The same visual language was then carried across all the show communications — from social media posts to ticket and more.

We also designed a few social media posts that were less design-heavy, more casual and information-led, while still staying true to the visual language of the campaign.

The idea was to keep the tour communication feeling fresh and varied — giving people the information they needed while keeping the buzz going, without making every post feel like an ad that they’d scroll past.

Alternate posters

We also explored a few alternate posters and more experimental directions along the way — some of which we really loved and felt were quite striking, even though they ultimately didn’t make it to the final key art.

Alternate posters

Anirban toured with the  same show in India, titled as "Cry Daddy". For this show too, we designed a treatment and an alternate poster.
