Brief
Kautuk Srivastava's Stand up special "Anatomy of Awkward" is a collection of 3 major segments. Each segment is a story from the life of the comedian. The idea was to start each segment with an animated sting, that would visually depict the core idea of the following segment. This would work as a fun segue into the new story as well as bind the special together in a homogenous design language.
Process
The deadline for the project was 4 days- from conception to animation. The vector based graphics for the animation were composed and animated entirely on After Effects.
The Opening Packaging
The opening packaging for the special was designed in the same design language as the in-between animated stings. It was pitched as a series of gags that happen backstage while the artist is getting ready to go up on stage for his performance.
Animated Stings
Each sting is a depiction of the core idea of the story that unfolds in the segment that follows. The stories were broadly titled- Tinder, Wagah and Jaipur- owing to the context of the aforementioned elements in the stories.
